Children and parents were amazed by the steam engine at Locks Heath Infant School's Summer Fayre

Heavy rain did not dampen the pupils’ spirits at Locks Heath Infant School as they raised more than £2,000 at their summer fayre.

Children and parents were amazed by Professor Bubbles’ magic and bubble show and the pupils also climbed aboard a huge steam engine at the event, which raised money for new facilities for the outdoor learning area at the school in Warsash Road, Locks Heath.

The summer fayre, which was organised by Friends of Locks Heath Infant School, saw some of the activities moved indoors because of the rain.

But the children were still enthralled by the enormous bubbles – big enough for them to walk into – and got to see an array of balloon animals made.

Other attractions included a tombola, bouncy castle, cake stall and a popular raffle with a holiday in France as the first prize.

There were performances from the school’s Singing Stars and Gymnastics clubs and the Muddy Boots gardening group sold plants, which raised £112 for Nywandi, an African child the school sponsor through Action Aid.
